What is Updater-O-Pwn?
Updater-O-Pwn is an updater program for video game records. It downloads user's pages containing their best scores, calculates rankings and uploads those for all to see.
What makes Updater-O-Pwn better than other updaters?
Not only is Updater-O-Pwn faster and more efficient than any other updater, where it really excels is it's ability to be customised however you want it to be. These are some of the things you can do:
- Customise it for any game. Add a 007 difficulty for GoldenEye, or cut the number of levels down and rename them so it works with The World Is Not Enough. Anything will work as long as the data format is in m:ss.
- Make the uploaded pages look exactly how you want. They are fully CSS driven and HTML compliant, so you can change the point color, table alignment, and many other things with a change of a value in the CSS file. You can even choose to make the person ranked first have a gold colored row in the table. It is only limited by your imagination.
- Choose exactly how many points you want each record to be worth. You can make it anything - 10, 100, 1000, even 4983.
- Choose which pages you want uploaded, or tell it to rename the files to anything you want when you upload them.
What else is different?
Updater-O-Pwn is intended for small rivalries and focuses on simplicity. Options that shouldn't be used in rivalries are not included, like forcing times on others and banning members (they are deleted instead). The most noticable difference though, is that it downloads times from .txt files instead of .htm files. Using .txt files eliminates the hassle of pages not working, whether it be due to ads or human error. They are smaller files so they download much faster than normal pages, and the updater can pick the times straight out of the files instead of searching through HTML code for them.
